Here’s our top picks of the best new and upcoming artists to check out this week, including rising star Lily Moore and indie-pop band The Night Café. Plus, you can listen to the playlist below, or click here to hear it. 

London-based Nigerian artist, Obongjayar, mixes elements of afrobeat, spoken word, soul and electronic music. He features on Octavian’s track Poison, which also features Take A Daytrip and Santi, and was released earlier this year.

Soul singer-songwriter, Jimmy Bailto, hails from Brighton. He came third on The Voice last year, has joined the likes of Olly Murs on tour and his debut studio album is set for release on Friday (1st May 2020).

KEYAH/BLU’s sound mixes R&B, psychedelic hip-hop and poetry. She dropped her EP, Sorry, I Forgot You Were Coming, in March which features sweet vocals, hard-spitting bars and lyrics telling stories of being a young adult.

Finnish-British singer, songwriter and producer Otta’s sound is influenced by neo-jazz, soul, skewed lo-fi and avant-pop. She released her EP, after it all blew over, in January which has a melancholy sound and showcases her distinct vocals.

21-year-old Lily Moore’s music takes influence from the likes of Etta James, Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill, whilst she creates her own modern take on soul music. MTV Push listed her as one of their ‘ones to watch’ for 2020 and last year she played with the likes of Tom Walker, Freya Ridings and George Ezra.

Indie-pop band, the Liverpudlian four-piece The Night Café, released their debut album, 0151, last August. The album sees the band put their own spin on the indie genre, with some tracks taking influences from soul and punk music. They’ve supported the likes of fellow Liverpool bands The Wombats and Circa Waves.
