Every week we help you discover new artists, selecting our favourite upcoming artists to listen to and update our Spotify playlist with new tracks. This week we’ve chosen funk, soul and pop singer Ed Staal, singer and rapper Why-Axis and more – check out our picks and listen to the playlist below.

Ed Staal was surrounded by music growing up, writing from a young age. He takes inspiration for funk and soul, and the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sam Cooke and Otis Redding as well as Justin Timberlake to create his own unique soulful pop sound.

British singer/songwriter Rose Gray makes anthemic/indie/rave/pop music. She dropped her latest single, Same Cloud, in September where she explores how she was feeling in lockdown and wondering if others felt the same.

Singer, rapper, songwriter and producer Why-Axis hails from Dublin. He released his latest EP, Moody F*ck earlier this year which touches on the topics of relationships, drugs, drink and love – which combines jazz, funk, pop and rap.

Croydon singer and songwriter Rachel Chinouriri wrote an EP at the age of 17, using a £20 microphone and her laptop to record it – which received support from BBC Introducing. Now at the age of 21 she’s still writing music and has released a new track, Give Me A Reason, last month.

Four-piece TV Priest are made up of childhood friends who made music together as teenagers before drifting apart and then getting back together in 2019. They take inspiration for The Fall and Protomartyr. They released their latest track, Slideshow, in September.
