Happy International Women’s Day! Today we’re celebrating some of the most outstanding women in the entertainment industry – check out who we’ve selected as our starring ladies below. 

American stand-up comedian Ali Wong kicks off our list! She’s had two Netflix Comedy Specials and is currently touring with her show Milk & Money – which sold-out an unprecedented thirteen nights at The Wiltern in LA.

Iliza Shlesinger is another leading comedian, selling-out shows in London which have received critical acclaim. The straight-talking, provocative comedian has also had five Netflix Comedy Specials.

The West End’s tastiest musical, Waitress, has made it onto our list as it’s the first show in the West End to have an all-female creative team. The musical sees waitress and expert pie maker Jenna’s life getting complicated whilst she dreams of happiness in her life.

The feel-good feminist show lighting up the West End, SIX The Musical, gives voices to Henry VIII’s six fierce wives. They take to the mic to tell their tales – remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak.

& Juliet is another firece feminist show you can catch in the West End. Juliet’s ending is just her beginning as she chooses her own fate in a journey of self-discovery – proving there’s more to life than Romeo.

We’re celebrating the women of ABBA, Agnetha and Frida. Before joining ABBA, Agnetha was a successful solo artist, her debut single Jag var så kär was a number one hit and she released several albums. Frida had worldwide success after ABBA with her album, Something’s Going On – receiving the Swedish Music Award Price Rockbjörnen.

Pop icon Kesha has sold over 134 million records worldwide and was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People after she spoke out against sexual harassment and assault. Themes of female empowerment are also reflected in her music.

It couldn’t be International Women’s Day without mentioning one of the biggest girl bands in the world, Little Mix. Since 2011, they’ve established themselves as one of Britain’s brightest pop acts, asserting dominance in the charts.

Another girl group we have to mention is Pussycat Dolls, who’ve returned to the stage after a nine year hiatus. 2020 is set to be a big year for these women – they’ll be touring the UK and released their new single, React

The Guilty Feminist has become a comedy phenomenon – Deborah Frances-White and her guests look at the goals of 21st Century feminists whilst exploring insecurities, hypocrisies and paradoxes.
