At times like this we could all do with a good laugh, so we’ve put together our top picks of hilarious sitcoms and comedy specials that you can watch on BBC iPlayer – which are sure to have you in stitches.

Best sitcoms:

If you haven’t seen it, now’s your chance – Mrs Brown’s Boys series 1-3 is available on iPlayer. The BAFTA-winning show is created by and stars Brendan O'Carroll as Agnes Brown – a Dublin woman who interferes in the lives of her friends and family.

The multi award-winning Fleabag’s two series are available to watch on BBC iPlayer. Each series contains six episodes that are about 25 minutes long – if you’re looking for something to binge quickly, then this is for you. Created, written by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge with an all-star cast, this tragicomedy is worth the hype.

Oh what’s occurring? The legendary British sitcom Gavin and Stacey is available to stream on BBC iPlayer. If the 2019 Christmas special is anything to go by – the most watched TV comedy in 17 years – its popularity isn’t waning. Why not visit this old favourite for some feel-good fun?

After a pilot in 2018, King Gary returned this year for a full series, due to popular demand. The show is written by and stars Tom Davis as Gary, following him and his wife as they navigate life in suburbia – starring Romesh Ranganathan as their neighbour.
