Artist of the Month: Vance Joy (April 24)

Australian singer-songwriter and musician, Vance Joy rose to prominence with his hit single Riptide in 2013. He is set to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of his debut album, Dream Your Life Away, which was released in 2014 - with a special performance at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on Tuesday 1 October 2024.

Born James Gabriel Keogh in Melbourne on 1 December 1987, Vance Joy studied law at the University of Melbourne before pursuing music full time. His passion for music led him to a career in the industry. He adopted the stage name "Vance Joy" based on a character from Peter Carey's novel "Bliss."

His breakout single [Riptide], gained significant attention worldwide, reaching the top 10 in multiple countries, including Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The song's catchy melody, along with Vance Joy's distinctive voice and lyrical storytelling, helped propel him into the spotlight.

In 2014, Vance Joy released his debut studio album, which included the tracks Mess Is Mine, Georgia and Riptide.

Following the success of his debut, Vance Joy continued to tour extensively and released new music. In 2018, he released his second studio album, Nation of Two, which showcased his growth as an artist while maintaining his signature sound.

Vance Joy's music is often characterized as folk-pop and features acoustic guitar-driven melodies and introspective lyrics. His songs explore themes of love, relationships, and personal reflection, resonating with audiences around the world.
