Last month #LetTheMusicPlay campaign was launched to raise awareness for the live music industry and to get more support, we asked you to share a picture from your last gig and use the hashtag. Today we want you to think about how many people it takes for that gig to happen. Whilst live music and touring is paused, the industry is in trouble.

  • The UK live music industry is a complex ecosystem that supports overs 200,000 jobs, and thousands of different companies and business types. The entire ecosystem needs urgent support.

  • Behind every show are specialist roles in venue operations, promotion, booking agency, management, production and many others. All of these jobs are now at serious risk.

  • The UK live music industry is projected to lose at least 60% of jobs, with the sector being hit hard by the collapse in live music, touring and festivals.

  • 50% of businesses involved in the supply of services to the live music industry only have liquidity for four months.

  • Over 400 jobs support the production of every live music performance at an arena.

Last summer we enjoyed working on Rammstein’s Milton Keynes show in the UK – here are some behind-the-scenes photos.

Take a look at this time lapse that demonstrates just how many people it takes to set up one of their shows:

But this video doesn’t show all of the people it takes to make a show happen. From the promoter, artist management, booking agency, set designers, lighting designers, sound engineers, catering, production, accounting and many, many more. All of these jobs are at risk unless the government is able to provide support for the industry.

Lets work together to
