Here at Eventim, we’ve recently joined forces with Tokyo Industries Ltd to become the official ticketing partner for Gorilla in Manchester.

What does this mean? I hear you ask… it means fans can now purchase tickets for all Gorilla events via the Eventim website and app.

About Gorilla

Located under two Victorian railway arches next to Manchester’s Oxford Road station, this ultra-cool, industrial styled bar, restaurant and music venue has seen its fair share of icons walk the halls. A staple of the city’s nightlife scene – the venue started life as The Green Room, a place for cabaret, drinking, dancing and comedy for over three decades, before it’s unfortunate closure. Mission Mars then purchased the site back in 2012 and created Gorilla.

From giving starts to bands like James and Doves, and welcoming early performances from Steve Coogan, Alan Carr and many more, the venue (as the Green Room) is steeped in history. Since the renovation nine years ago, Gorilla has remained a hugely popular mainstay, thanks to its award-winning kitchen, glamorous gin parlour and eclectic mix of upcoming and established artists who hit their stage each week.

Spread over two floors – and kitted out with a mix of wooden school furniture and 1950’s style booths – it’s a charming and frankly unique place, that has successfully split itself between a bustling hang-out spot and a 550- 650 capacity performance space, with vintage dials adorning the wall behind the stage.

A hub offering a three-pronged attack on your social calendar, whether you’re popping in for a drink, checking out a gig or just after an award-winning place to eat, Gorilla has it all.

In more recent years, they’ve welcomed acts including DFA 1979, Hot Chip, The 1975, Childish Gambino, Florence + the Machine and the Aussie pop-queen, Kylie Minogue.

The venue faced permanent closure in 2020. After a deal was agreed between venue group Tokyo Industries and former owners Mission Mars, both Gorilla and sister venue The Deaf Institute were saved and they will return bigger and better than ever.

While the locations have stayed closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic since their acquisition, the venues have gone digital launching Gorilla TV which features videos, interviews and live sets broadcast from both Manchester venues. Guests to date have included Badly Drawn Boy, The Lathums, The Cribs and more.
