8 super things to see at the ABBA: Super Troupers The Exhibition!

Discover the life and times of the band who changed it all, ABBA: Super Troupers exhibition at The O2 brings to life the world of the chart-topping Swedish pop sensation. 

Each room is inspired by the band’s eight iconic albums, with some objects on display which have never been seen before in the UK. The immersive exhibition charts their music, lyrics, creative process and journey to be one of the most iconic pop bands of the modern age.

  1. Eurovision Song Contest Award
    In 1974 ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest at Brighton Dome, with their song Waterloo, their career was launched into the spotlight after their win. You can see the award itself at the exhibition.

  2. Frida’s Binder of Lyrics
    Before ABBA the foursome were known as Festfolket. At the exhibition you can see Frida’s binder of lyrics from their first gig as a foursome, with the songs they played that night. Festfolket means ‘party people’ and ‘engaged couples’ in Swedish. You can see where Frida has doodled her and Benny’s names on the folder.

  3. Waterloo Drum Kit
    See the impressive drum kit for its first public display since it was used at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974. The drums were lent to to ABBA by local jazz drummer for £20.

  4. Doctor’s Suitcase
    Their on-tour doctor, Dr Åke Olsson, who was considered a big part of the band’s family, collected his backstage passes and stickers and put them on his suitcase.

  5. Arrival Helicopter 
    See a replica of the helicopter used for the glamorous front cover of their album, Arrival. They shot the cover at Barkarby Airport – an old Air Force base, north of Stockholm.

  6. Iconic Costumes

    You can see original costumes and clothes worn by ABBA – from the Voulez-Vous capes, Red Hare and Green Fox Dresses worn for Eagle music video, to replicas of their 1974 Eurovision Song Contest outfits and more!

  7. The band’s personal awards

    See a selection of the numerous gold and platinum discs, awarded to each member of the band for ABBA’s songs and albums.

  8. Superfan’s ‘ABBA Room’

    ABBA superfan, Andrew Boardman, has lent his entire collection of memorabilia – around 2,500 items – to the exhibition.
